Funeral Potatoes


  • 1/2 cup melted butter plus 3 T
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 pint sour cream
  • 1/2-1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large bag frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1 cup crushed corn flakes or break crumbs
Mix the 1/2 cup butter, soup, and sour cream in a large bowl. Stir in milk, then cheese and frozen potatoes. Mix well. Pour into a 9x13 pan. Mix cornflakes/bread crumbs and 3 T melted butter. Sprinkle on top of potatoes. Cook at 350*F for 30 minutes or until top in browned.

Monkey Bread


    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 t cinnamon
    • 2 cans grands refrigerated biscuits
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 3/4 cup melted butter
  1. Preheat oven to 350*F and grease bundt pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a large plastic bag.
  2. Separate biscuits and cut into quarters. Shake in bag with sugar. Arrange in pan.
  3. Mix brown sugar and butter and pour over biscuits.
  4. Bake 28-32 minutes. Let sit for 10 minutes before removing and serving.

Sticky Buns


  • 18-20 frozen Rhodes rolls
  • 1 package cook and serve butterscotch pudding
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4-1/3 cup evaporated milk

Combine the pudding, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter in a sauce pan. Cook over low until melted. Add evaporated milk. Add pecans if desired.

In a super greased bundt pan, layer the rolls and sauce. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 8+ hours. Remove from fridge and let sit for 30-40 minutes. Bake at 375*F for 25 minutes.

Mom's Banana Bread


Cream together:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup shortening
Add and beat until creamy:
  • 4 overripe bananas
In a separate bowl, combine:
  • 1 1/2 t baking soda
  • dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • chocolate chips
Add dry ingredients to creamy, mix until just not lumpy. Pour into greasy bread pan. Bake for 60 minutes at 350*F.

Prophet Cookies


Mix together:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
Add:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 T vanilla
Add:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 3/4 t baking soda
Add:
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
Bake at 350*F for 10 minutes. They should look underdone.

Brownies


Cream together:
  • 3 cubes butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
Add:
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
Bake at 325*F for 25 minutes.
Cool and frost.

Chicken Cheese Dip


  • 3-4 chicken breasts
  • 1 big jar of pace salsa
  • 2 cans cream of chicken
  • 2 small cans diced green chiles
  • 1-2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • diced jalapeno - optional
Put everything except for cheese in a crockpot on low for 3-4 hours. Shred chicken, mix in cheese. Serve with tortilla chips.

Haystacks



  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup water
Cook on low in crockpot. Shred chicken. Serve over rice.

Additional toppings:
  • cheese
  • green onions
  • bell peppers
  • tomatoes
  • chow mein
  • pineapple
  • etc.

Grandma Laura's Lemon Bars


  • 1 cup soft butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Combine and press into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350*F for 15 minutes.

  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 6 T lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups sugar
Mix and pour over slightly cooled crust. Bake at 350*F for 25 minutes. Cool and dust with powdered sugar.

Scalloped Potatoes


Ingredients:
  • 3 lbs. yellow potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 3 cups milk
  • 5 oz. gruyere cheese
  • 3 T unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • salt and pepper
Directions:
  1. Heat oven to 325*F. In a large saucepan, combine sliced potatoes and milk, and place over high heat on the stove. Bring to a boil, then redue heat to low; cover, and simmer until potatoes just begin to get tender (around 3 minutes).
  2. Meanwhile, great cheese. Drain potatoes and reserve milk. You should have about 2 cups starchy milk. If less than 2 cups, add more milk.
  3. Rub a 3.5 quart casserole dish with garlic and butter. Arrange sliced potatoes in layers, season with salt and pepper and cheese between each layer. Dot remaining butter and pour in the milk and cream. Add remaining cheese on the top.
  4. Cook in the lower third of the oven and bake until cheese is golden brown and milk has reduced and thickened, 80-90 minutes. Serve immediately.


The Best Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T milk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • powdered sugar for rolling out dough
Sift together flour, baking power, and salt. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla to butter. Gradually add flour and beat until mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl. Divide dough in half, wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Preheat oven for 375*F.

Sprinkle flat surface with powdered sugar. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut out cookies and bake for 7-9 minutes.

The Eighty Dollar Cake


Ingredients:
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 small box chocolate pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups/1 package chocolate chips
Beat all ingredients together. 
Add in chocolate chips.
Bake at 350* for 50-60 minutes.
Melt chocolate frosting and pour over the cake.

Chocolate Cream Cheese Layered Pie


Layer 1:

  • 2 graham cracker crusts

Layer 2:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cool whip
Mix and divide into the two pie shells.

Layer 3:
  • 2 small packages chocolate pudding
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix, divide, and layer into the two pie shells.

Layer 4:
  • Cool whip
Chill and serve.
